Corrugated Cardboard Machine

A corrugator is a group of machines designed to form single, double or triple wall panels from three, five or seven sheets of paper in a continuous process.

Corrugating and gluing the grooves to a single liner
Gluing the outer lining to make rigid panels
Cutting the board to the desired size

Three sheets of paper (cardboard) are simultaneously unrolled on the corrugator: the inner liner, the outer liner and the intermediate medium (also called corrugated board).
A "wave" is given to the medium table. This corrugation is obtained by pressing the sheet under heat with grooved metal rolls. This operation gives the paper a fluted shape in the single-sided machine.
Starch is applied to the fluted tip on one side, and the outer and inner liners are glued to the tip of the corrugated medium from the outer and inner sides, respectively.
The corrugated board comes out of the corrugator as a flat sheet.

Corrugated board processing

The processing of corrugated board includes all processes from the flat sheet to the finished product (mainly packaging). These processes include printing, die-cutting, folding and gluing (taping or stitching).
The operations vary depending on the customer's specifications and the type of packaging.
The converting process varies depending on the type of packaging.

Printing

Printing on corrugated paper is always possible, regardless of the type of packaging.
Flexographic printing processes are commonly used for printing on corrugated paper. In recent years, digital direct printing has entered the market, offering new possibilities.
Printing can be done "in-line" or "off-line".

Die-cutting, folding, gluing

Most corrugated boxes are manufactured on a flexo folder gluer (FFG) that combines printing, straight cutting, folding and gluing. These processes can also be performed on a different machine.
The package is then placed on a pallet and prepared for flat shipping to the customer.
Die-cutting is a process of cutting and creasing sheets in a specially designed form to create the unique share of packaging desired by the customer.
